There are a lot of silly songs out there for kids. They’ve been around for a long because, well, kids are silly. There are silly songs that are smart-silly, but usually a lot of stupid-silly. And not funny stupid. Just, stupid. Making a truly funny, and good, silly song is almost as challenging as writing a serious song.
Enter Kelli Welli who writes silly songs that fall in the category of smart, funny-silly songs. Titles like “Turtlurtle”, “Tacos, Bananas, and Toy Boats”, “Hello, I Am a Monkey” just to name a few. Kelli has four family albums under her belt, with the latest including remastered versions of some of her older songs along with a few new tunes. Kelli’s M.O. isn’t just silly songs. In fact her catalog includes some very sweet and tender folk songs.
Her next album, Let’s Go, Pistachio, is slated for release at the end of January 2021. I can only image what perfect blend of silliness and tenderness it will hold. We do have one song from the album now. The first single is “Kickin’ It With My Chicken”. Yes, this falls in the category of smart and funny silly. A tale of a girl and her best friend. A chicken. Listen and watch the video below. You don’t want to miss the chicken solo. Plus, I guarantee the chorus will be stuck in your head. And that’s a good thing. You’ll be “bock bock”-ing all day long.
Thank you so much for this, Dave! 🙂
